Bottle shared in London - thanks to Matteo. Basic, strong, fairly tasty. Decent balance to it, a bit of dough, nips of fruit. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Drinkable enough.

75 bottle from Belga Corner, SP. Orange color, big white head. Sourish nose. Aroma of fruity esters, spices, citrus, raisins. Taste is citrusy, mild sweetness, sourish. Highly carbonated, medium body, dry spicy finish, raw overall. Ok.

Jandrain saison brewed for Belga Corner in Brazil, from a 75 cl bottle. Medium, creamy, egg-white head, colour a misty straw yellow blonde. Estery and fairly strong aroma of sour yoghurt, green apple, raw rhubarb, vanilla, unripe peach, straw, gooseberries, starfruit, banana, pineapple, white pepper, sourdough, candied lemon, cava, sorrel, freshly cut grass, old dry sherry, hint of cloves. Taste begins vividly fruity, lots of citrus (lime?), pineapple and sour berries, with a gentle yet subtle sweetness to it; strong and tingling carbonation further reinforcing the acidity, but remaining in place. Middle phase retains the same acidity but it feels quite natural (intended) here, not resulting from bacterial infection; underneath there is a smooth, slightly bready but in all fairly dry malt sweetishness and more and more spicy yeasty impressions come up. Finish continues the spicy yeastiness along with the drying acidity, perhaps a bit too much, some subtle remains of lingering malt sweetishness and herbal hops, as well as a touch of warming, ’jenever’-like alcohol, restraining itself just enough not to become obnoxious. In all: the acetaldehyde factor is fairly strong here and the ’wild’ sourness could be a little less pronounced for this particular style, but at the same time this beer manages to remain subtle and refreshing. Not bad at all for a blonde intended as a saison (or, as the Americans say, ’farmhouse ale’), but I assume this may be quite a shock to the average Brazilian palate...

75 cl. bottle sampled. Procured from Willems & Zoon. Hazy orange, little head. Nose is metallic, orange, sweet bread, lots of yeast, light saison touch, sweet sugary. Tastes of sweet apple, bitter grain, grass, lots of yeast, sweet sugar, light chalk. Thicker yeast body. Pretty dull but nothing wrong with it, it is just quite dull.

Bottle, thanks to Frederik (Ekstedt) split at Colin and the Vikings tasting, Nol, Goteborg, Sweden 22/03/14. Hazed pale yellow blonde with a thin off white covering that clears to spotting. Nose is light piss, straw, not a lot doing, lemon rind, apple core. Taste provides a little more depth of flavour with bitter orange, light peach, grass, pinch of spice, yeast esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. A pretty mediocre saison.
