3 May 2018. Bottle at Stokerij, Ghent. Cheers to Anke's birthday!
Pours clear amber with a lasting, small, foamy, tan head; litlle lacing; hazy with the deposit. Strong aroma of raisin (if ever a beer smelled of raisin...), butterscotch, candied fruit, dough, dried dark fruit, herbs & tea leaves. It tastes medium fruity sweet, hints of raisin & dough, and light roasted & herbal bitter, some burnt caramel. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, lingering fruit impressions. Medium body, thin syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation. A bit underwhelming but okay.

Tasted at De Stokerij, a place in Ghent I enjoy a lot, from tap. Apparently not made anymore - had it there in August 2013. Creamy, stable, light beige head, deep ruby red colour with brownish hue, misty. Aroma of caramelly malts, banana, chocolate, dried plums, raisins and a hint of old single malt. Taste of dark fruits (candied dates, pear) on a caramelly and somewhat chocolatey maltiness, a bit yeasty, gentle roasted bitterishness in the finish, medium long hop bitterishness. A dubbel if you ask me - but considering the lack of interest in styles typifying Belgian breweries, I won’t argue about the style given above.

Draft sample @ Eetkaffee Multatuli in Gent. Reddish brown with a tanned head. Nose is esters, caramel malts, faint bitter herbs, light cocoa and caramel. Taste is sweet brown sugar, light cocoa, light coffee, caramel, light herbs, light bitter grass in the back. Easy to drink. Pretty simple, well-done but I expected more character from De La Senne honestly, this tastes very general. It is pretty likely that they were just working on commission here. Still more than solid enough brew.
