This dark beer unleashes the beast that is locked inside the darkest basements of your soul. This stout spends autumn in Scottish whiskey barrels that give it its woody and nutty aroma with a smoked hint. The lingering sourness fights the bitterness of the wood and the dark malts to create a nice harmony. Accept that your no longer a goody-goody and act a little “stout”.

33cl bottle in the Delirium Cafe, Brussels on 21st October 2024. Didn't take to this at all, thought the whiskey and Flemish Red base beer didn't gel or work together.

Keg at The Star & Garter, Bromley. Reddish brown pour with a beige head. Nose is blackberries, black cherries, raisins, blackcurrant jam. Taste is black cherries, blackberries, oak, liquorice toffee, quite nutty, tart dark fruits. Nicely balanced. Dry, sweet 'n' sour finish.

Bottle consumed while watching Jeremy try to farm. Very dark, big velvety tan head. Tangy sour nose with roasted malt and hints of molasses. Flavor is big and bold, not as dark roasted as the color belies. Nice sour character, dry but still with good mouthfeel. Very earthy aftertaste from the peated whisky. I like it!

Draught Very good cream-amber head, dense, over fully opaque black-brown beer. Lactic acid and smoke, malty, chestnut, chocolate. First smoked sausage, then lactic acid, refreshing the heavy smoke. Fainter smoke following with mild roast and restrained phenols. Feels heavy for its 7.5% AND acidthinning. Iron fist in velvet glove. WOW! Great accomplishment, guys; sour, smoke and roast just complementing each other.

Pours unclear, dark caramelly chocolate brown. Small to medium, off white head. Scent is full, tart, tad roast, but more sharp than I'm used to in a stout. Oaky. Peat is fairly hidden. Taste is definitely acidic, peat is mild. Lactic acid, mild acetic touch, woody, dark fruits (very mild). Peat remains very low throughout the experience. Not as roast as expected.

Bottle at Cafe Local. Smoke, roast. Taste is great, don't get the whisky, instead maple syrup. Initial skunk then maple syrup, light spice, ginger, interesting mix.
