In 1343, The Livonian Order fought a bloody battle against the Estonians at Sojamae (The War Hill). Nearly 700 years later the Danish returned to that very hill, now home to Sori Brewing, carrying a beer recipe and an olive branch. Livonian Crusade is an alliance between Amager and Sori, a bold Imperial Stout aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels.

Pours viscously to a slowly building good dark tan head, bit layered. Pitch black beer. Bourbon, young oak, vanilla, but also resin and ureum, as well as an aroma, reminding me of eucalyptus. Roast, Bourbon, vanilla and diary, as double cream or coffeemilk. Retronasal again this eucalyptol-like flavour. Very little bitterness, sweetish as rosewater... reduction let's say. Warming up, dark chocolate. Ultra-thick and viscous, alcoholheat, suppressed carbonation. Yet another one that pleases but incites to state: "there's better in this segment".

TCBW VR session beer. Flat, no head. Sweet bourbon, caramel and chocolate. Some coffee too. A bit dry, not too boozy. Pretty good.

Bottle, 330 ml shared with Miro B and Max. Black with brownish head. Cocoa, chocolate, roasted, coffee, whiskey, barrel. Somewhat oily. Sweet with nice maybe just bit too intensive bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. Smooth and bit silky.

330ml bottle. Stingy, woody and oaky with some cinnamon, green apples and toffee. Heavy and a bit unbalanced.
