Broadside was launched as a 6.3% bottled beer in 1972 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the battle of Sole Bay fought against the Dutch Republic in 1672 off the Southwold coast, just across the green from the brewery.
Ingredients: Pale, Black, and Chocolate malts; First Gold hops
Broadside is a dark ruby red beer rich in fruitcake aromas, almonds and conserved fruit. The fullness of the beer makes it a good accompaniment for hearty food.

New Beer Distributors, NY 50cl ($4.50): Pours a light brownish color with a cream head. Aroma is toffee, fruits, and a bit of hops. Taste is slightly sweet (glad to see this not being too sweet). Nice amount of bitterness. Fruity flavors round this out pretty well. This is pretty good.

Bottle given to me at Christmas. A deep amber/brown coloured pour with a smallish off white head. Caramel, dark fruit aroma. Tastes similar, caramel, dark fruit, malty, slightly sweet. I’ve had this on cask many times and prefer that to the bottled version.

Bottle at a conference at Earl’s Court. It pours ruby-brown with a medium beige head. The nose is caramel, wood, earth, nut and sweet dark fruit. The taste is caramel, wood, earth, raisin, light toast, dark fruit and some decent bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. This is definitely one of Adnams best. Robust, good flavour and well balanced. Good job!

Piana mocna choć powoli powstaje podczas nalewania. Zapach złożony. Słodycz miesza się z mocą alkoholową.

50 cl bottle @ Salhojankadun Pub. Rated on 06.11.2010
Aroma has some sweetish toffee, ripe fruits and hints of caramel. Flavour has English toffee, some ripe fruits, hints of spices and caramel. Quite typical English Strong Ale.
