Accessible spicy blonde beer of only 5.5 vol% matured in gin barrels

This beer has matured in eight months ‘Villiers’ gin barrels and 8 months in bottle. Noblesse VSOP is thus a clear beer, and has a very fine, light bitterness of hops and juniper. The beer is refreshing, smooth and has sufficiently long aftertaste. A perfect thirst-quenching beer.

Thanks to Rian for sharing! Nose is very floral, the gin is there! The beer starts with lots of Gin, hints of wood. The mainpart is very smooth, the Gin-spirit-note is omnipresent, quite dominating, but it fits in very well.
Quite nice and interesting combination. 12/12/13/13

Nice blond beer, which a spicy taste of juniper and with a slight glow of the aging. Decent, it’s a bit too simple.

A golden beer with an almost medium, dense and white head. Complex mix of the fruits in the aroma, citrusfruits and mandarin, spices, dry barrel. Taste of (overdone) fruits and mandarin, barrel, hint of fruit liquor. Some alcoholic notes in the end even the low alcohol %. Medium bodied, low carbonation, surprisingly, sticky to drink. A barrel is dominating too much and that’s not a very good thing. Not so fresh as the original Noblesse and there are even some alcohol in the taste. Quite OK despites of the some criticism, barrelled fruits.

Hazy gold beer with a good fluffy white head. Light palate, semi dry with fine carbonation. Despite it’s 8 months on Jenever barrels, this is a fresh tasting beer! Light bretty orange and tangerine. Nice Jenever sweet and spicy tang. Comes together very well before the semi dry finish. What a pleasant surprise, a tasty BA beer which does not have an abv off the scale!

Bottled, BB april 2015, large sample. Clear golden color, medium frothy white head. Aroma of earthy and grassy hop, spicy yeast, hint of lemon, bit spicy, slight peppery, some juniper. Bit sweet in taste, quite bitter as well. Bit dry in the finish. There is some genever note to the beer, which makes it dry, but also fresh. Combines very well with the original beer. Barrel seems to give some high alcohols, which most likely wont be from the base beer. Bit too dry in the finish perhaps, which leaves a tart but not sour note.

Bottle at WWT3. Poured a hazy light amber with a very thin white head. The aroma is dry and yeasty. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with some dry yeast and alcohol bitterness on the palate. A lovely bottle that promised so much that didn’t really live up to the hype.
