Courtesy of and thanks to tderoeck. 720 ml. bottle sampled @ “Procrastinated Spontaneity /…………/ 2 Boekjes” tasting @ Gent. Paired with yummy veggies & veggie burger. Thx. Pours a copper burned sugar with an off-white head. Smells like sweet caramel, thinned out with burned sugar and light malts, smells a bit old. Tastes bitter herbal upfront, apple syrup, bitter metallic, thinned old, dark bread. Body is syrup, bit metallic. Having said that this is easily the finest African beer I have had so far.

Clear red amber beer, big off-white head, little stable, adhesive. Aroma: malty, sugary, overripe banana, caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sweet caramel, sugary, bit malty, sourish touch, banana. Aftertaste: bit lemony, grains, lots of overripe banana.

Bottle at the ChrisO Snow Tasting, London - thanks to Paul and his DRC hook-up for getting this beer safely into the hands and stomachs of London’s most illustrious beer drinkers, who really know how to appreciate fine African dunkels such as this one. The beer pours clear amber with a moderate, creamy off-white head; it actually looks quite nice, and Ian thought it was the best-looking beer of the day. Lightly toasted brown bread aroma with some darkened sugars. Light to medium sweet flavor, crisp and dry bread. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Light dry finish with more brown bread, mellow leafy bitterness. Good enough. For at least one day in 2013, we got to live like Turbo Kings. And it was good.

Bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting, thanks to myself (& a friend in DRC). It pours clear deep red-brown with a medium off-white head. The nose is dark fruit, caramel, wood, toast and nut. The taste is caramel, toast, faint tang, dark fruit and cola with a dryish finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Mild-esque in style. Nowhere near as bad as feared... smooth and easy drinking. Also it is rather handsome looking.

Bottle a Chriso’s tasting 20/01/2013. First tick in DRC. Chesnut brown with a thing whispy white head. Nutty aroma with a little alcohol. Medium sweet a little syrupy brown sugar. Fruity ester yeast profile. Really not that bad.

Bottle, thanks to Paul (for putting me straight in at joint 19th in the DR Congo rating stakes !) at Chriso Snow Tasting 20/01/13. A handsome beer, clear chestnut brown with a frothy off white head that clears to ville d’edge. Nose is dark malt, light sugars - kind of aspartamic and false, faint cocoa in the background, dark fruit, light spice. Taste follows, mild fruit notes, dark malt, sugars. Medium bodied, a little fizz in the carbonation stakes, light bitterness in a dry finish.

Bottle 720ml. @ The Danish Summer Gathering, TFODRBSG12, Ulfborg.Clear medium to dark red brown - amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, burnt sugar, malt extract, light brown sugar. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average duration, brown sugar, malty, thin, cardboard notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20120818]
