75 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a lacing white head. Mild yeasty and slight caramelish aroma. Flavour is crisp and citric. Smoth yet also citric finish with a light fruity touch. Smooth and slight citric finish.

750mL bottle shared by Jimmack. Lots of talk that his has gone downhill too much but fortunately this is a bottle Jimmack has kept in his basement all this time and doing rather fine. It has seems to already reached its apex but still a very enjoyable brew.
Aroma is full on thick aged biscuit maltiness. Then some faint wild touches and a bit of grape skin. But definitely feels old. Taste is a bit mineral with faint wild/sour touches again and a sweet pear flavor. The color is a completely murky golden, cannot see through it. Probably the 2nd best HW Saison holding up at this point.

Hazy golden ale with a thick white head. Sour wheat with lactic notes in aroma. Thin astringent sour ale with less character than in aroma lets predict. Falls flat, with overly tartness, like squeezed lemon. Dissapointed. DumDum’s Belgian Sendoff on August 25, 2005.

A hazy dark yellow beer with a big off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of yeast - and so is the flavor also - with a slight spicy note to it.

Bottle shared with Capflu, DumDum and Lubière : Poured a dirty yellow color ale with a huge foamy head with excellent retention. Aroma of funky yeast, strange spices probably including coriander. Taste is again a mix between the yeast and spices with well-balanced hops at the end. That is my second Heavyweight and I’m starting to be a big fan of them.

Has all the qualities a good saison should have - a wonderful musty, earthy, barnyardy beer - tart but not mouth-puckering - grainy with mild hops - lighter fruits, mostly pear and lemon - might age well.

Bottle at the 4/17/05 Montreal tasting in great company. Sparkling golden, light haziness and a moderate amount of white head that recedes to a ring and laces well. Aroma gives off notes of apples, honey, dry hay-like hops and pears, and some moderate perfuminess and the smell of citrus hand cream being washed down the drain with plenty of crystal clear mineral water. Farmhouse character is there, not in force, but it’s there. Flavor begins with light honey and soft tangerine flavor, notes of apples, almonds and light lemon. Yeasty in flavor, though not thick and chewy. Light, sparkling, well-done version of the style, but for my money I’ll take the Fantome d’été any day.
