Monnik met mede
De geschiedenis van mede is een vermelding waard. De drank vindt zijn oorsprong in Keltische en Anglo-saxische rituelen. Het Engelse woord honeymoon (huwelijksreis) is overgebleven uit de tijd toen pasgetrouwden een maand lang mede dronken. Als de mede "goed" was, zou dit resulteren in de geboorte van een zoon na negen maanden.
Weyn's maakt een onderscheid tussen zachte en pittige mede op basis van de honing die bij het maken gebruikt wordt.

clear yellow, small head. aroma is honey, plain sweet honey.flavor is honey, fiant bitter note, faint herbal note, the bitterness is nice to the mead.

Weyn’s Mede Hydromel, 11.5%, 75cl, helder goudgeel en kraagloos. aroma is zoals verwacht zoet, wijnachtig, honing. de smaken zijn zoet, erg floraal, honing uiteraard maar volgens mij nou niet de beste kwaliteit aan honing is er hiervoor gebruikt. verder iets van groene appeltjes in de smaak naast wat wijntonen. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mede (zacht) / Hydromel (doux) on 25 May 2018 at 13:52 - Score: 7

bottle by seb at rampkrot colour is yellow. captain obvious also noted it had no foam. at all. and its suiper flat. and it smells sweet . taste is sweet, light ( not too sweet) , alcohol, very nice, aplle elements in there as well. i should look more into mead.

75cl bottle. Dorée-clair, paille, doré au verre. Doux est mielleux avec un alcool léger et réchauffant. Le tout reste correct sans pour cela être transcendant. Très peu de notes venant du miel, qui cii ne contribue que peu à un ajout fleuri.

Courtesey of Sebltetitje. 75 cl. bottle sampled. Pale white wine looking. Nose is boozy, white wine, lighter honey, bit simple. Sweet, lightly alcoholic, lower class white wine, honey, cheaper honey, light white sugar, white flowers, light burn, nectar,… Okay body, easy to drink, enjoyable, not too shabby.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a clear pale yellow with no head. Lovely spicy nose with subtle honey accents. Rich, sweet honey notes, heavily spiced also with a slight tartness. But actually quite enjoyable. 230213

Blond color with a greenish hue. The aroma has a nice lemony, citrusy character, with light honey. Sweet without being syrupy; fresh honey flavor, with pleasant citrusy acidity. Simple but not bad.

Bottled, thanks fiulijn! Hazy pale golden. Sheer honey aroma. Sweet, medium bodied, rounded mouthfeel. Sweet honey with little depth, feels generic and superficial. Dull.
