La Double … C’est l’ajout de 3 malts caramel au brassage qui confère à cette
bière double (6°) toute sa rondeur. Elle possède une belle finale de réglisse
anisée et un bouquet agréablement doux. EBC 54.

F: big, off-white, average lasting. C: dark brown, dark red against the light, hazy. A: malt, herbal, spicy, cinnamon, star anise. T: malt, hint of roasted malt, spicy, dark fruits, curacao, spicy, hint of apple, medium body, good carbonation, interesting beer as I like curacao tones in beer, 0,33l bottle from Delhaize in Eupen.

This one has a very strong herbal aroma and flavour. Most notably Bay Leaf and Gale perhaps some Salmiak too. Background has some caramel and dark malt.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. BBF 04/2015. Small GUSHER. Hazy brown light fox brown, beige head quickly vanishing. Smell is thick liquorish, iron, very thick spices, very sweet overripe dark fruits, caramel & even more slightly metallic liquorish. Tube weird mineral metallic liquorish, huge herbs, very high carb. bread overripe, dark fruits, very cheap box wine, spoiled grapes, explodes in the mouth, weird, too much, hard to describe.

33cl bottle @ home. Somewhat unclear reddish color, small off-white head. Smell malts, sweetness and lots and lots of herbs and spices. Taste also has sweetness and a lot of herbs and spices. I think it’s cinnamon. Or nutmeg. Anyway, I don’t like it, not my beer.

Gushing to good beige head, irregular, over fully hazy dark brown beer; end of bottle solid yeast. Perfumed nose of lavender, and some liquorice and mint. Melanoidins. Overload of liquorice in the flavour, with sweet chocolate and a pinch of juniperberry. Like some praline (Belgian chocolate) with one of those experimental fillings. Gradually, the flaovur becomes more and more minty. Not very well-bodied, spritzy carbonation. Ouch. Original, but not my taste. Carries the name of Piron, an ephemere brewery in Aubel.

33cl; bb 10/2014.
