The Brown Bink is the 2nd Bink Beer to be brewed here, since 1997. This drinking beer goes down well with the amateurs of dark beer. The ingredients are: four types of malt, one type of Belgian hops, brewing water and yeast. Our Brown Bink is a full, softly bitter beer with a sweetish aftertaste of maltiness.

Brown 33ml bottle, best before 02/2006? Drank 03/2007. Poured into a Straffe Hendrik bowl glass. It looked wonderful for about 20 seconds, sadly the full beige foaming head which appeared on pouring, just legged it to a wispy, half covering of the very dark hamogany red/black body. No big aroma from my bottle, burnt malts and sweet caramel, but nothing very strong. Sweet, burnt malts and caramel follow on into the taste from the aroma, the taste is not over sweet, but it is not a bitter, sour brown flavour. Not the strongest, most flavoursome or thickest brown around, in fact it is almost watery, but that would be unfair, it is average for it’s style. Would I have another if I come across it somewhere? Yes, but I won’t pay for it.

Bottle. A clear one, brown in color and topped by a small, beige head. The aroma is quite typical Belgian, fruity, sugary and with dried fruits. Dried fruits, cellar, a touch of oxidation and some hints of chocolate in the flavor. Bitterness too, both initially and in the end. Full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Perhaps a bit too straight forward this one, but it’s certainly a nice beer. 110916

Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky dark brown color with a medium sized tan head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was a lovely blend of cocoa, fig, cherry, nutmeg and raisin. The flavor was tangy raisin, fig, vanilla, rum, cocoa and cola. The finish was long and malty with lingering raisin, vanilla and cocoa. Medium body and a touch watery. Well done.

Kind of winey and sourish smell, don’t like it. Low body. Taste and color decent.

Bottle: Deep amber coloured with a reddish sheen, hazy and crowned by a small and stable off-white foamy layer; vinous-fruity nose and caramelly backbone, accompanied by a slight acidity; moderate sweetish-sourish flavour, including a faint bitterness; slightly lingering caramelly-fruity and mildly sourisg finish. Pleasant and tasty.....

Cloudy brown beer. Lots of malty tones like a Scotch Ale but also with a little sourness and a semi dry finish. Quite drinkable.

Pours a cloudy darkbrown beer, with some large chunks in it. Beige rocky head that disappears rather quickly. A lot of carbonation in the glass. In the nose sweet malts, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeeling is round, full and warm body. Taste is full malty, even fruity with a little sour touch. Somewhat caramel as well, but not as much as you would think by the aroma. Aftertaste is freshly sour and malty with red fruits and berries. A very interesting and well crafted beer. It's been 7 years since I visited the brewery and drunk the beer, should be doing this some more!
