275 ml bottle at home. Black color with very nice one finger beige almost creamy head. roasted malty aroma of coffee (mostly) and chocolate, dark dried fruits, raisins, light hoppy. Taste is sweet and bitter, malty, like the aroma, coffee and dark sweet chocolate and dark fruits. Full body, almost creamy, soft carbonation, bitter chocolate and coffee and slightly alcoholic long finish.

275ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours deep dark black, light just about makes it through, thick, long-lasting tan head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, prune, liquorice. Taste is dark chocolate, sweet, light coffee bitterness, charcoal maybe. Chewy texture, rich and full-bodied. Lovely.

Bottle from the Guildford Arms. Appearance - when it settles a lovely coffee like beer. Opaque black with a crema head. Nose - it’s that imperial note of prunes in alcohol or Black Forest Gateau. Taste - boozy fruit cake plus chocolate. Tar and liquorice. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy yet drying texture and a well balanced finished. Overall - yep that’s imperial porter by numbers.

Thx! 275 ml. bottle sampled. 2013 Vintage, should be about 12 months old now I think. The original is a long time want of mine but I doubt that I will ever get to try that one so very exited about this getting to try this one. Pours black, head is mainly only mocha bubbles. Smells of cold chocolate & coffee, sweet, pralines, has a sweeter milk chocolate feel to it with a faint herbal note, distinctly unique & off the style, very interesting. Sweetly herbal upfront, sweetened cold coffee, milk chocolate, mellow, basically no roast, cane & brown sugar, light dark fruits. Feel is a mix of coffee & syrup but far less thick than that sounds, lighter than you would expect a RIS to be these days. There are definitely better RIS around these days but this one did taste distinctly unique, very enjoyable, not sure how prolonged aging would benefit this one. I wouldn’t mind having this one again in the future.

Thnx to somebody Pours black no real foam Bit coffee in the smell , Good mouthfeel , bit bitter . Someetalic aspect . Earthyness , , some green , sweet , perfumed aspects . Pretty good

Bottle at home from Tesco’s. Extremely dark brown with a bit of tan head. Aroma of rosewater and lavender, roast malt, fine coffee. A bit of light fruitiness adds to the aroma’s complexity. The taste is mouth-watering sweetness tempered with light bitterness on the tongue. The many flavours are asserted throughout the taste profile without overpowering at any point. Maybe a tiny, tiny bit too much bitterness in the finish, otherwise perfect. The best beer I’ve had in years.
