Got me some of this on tap at Moeder Saint-Gilles in the company of sebletitje. It pours up with a dark mahogany body that supports a tall tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts and a firm inviting chocolate note as well as some dark roasted malts in the background. The taste begins with highly roasted malts and then gets more and more chocolate to midway. It also picks up a slight mineral sense too. These roasty notes head off into the finish where a light caramel maltiness surfaces to help close the experience. I dig it.

Bottle shared with Bruce and Colin at Kerelshof, Cassel. Pours clear, red-brown with a decent, creamy khaki head. Semi-dark malts in the aroma, hints of sugary chocolate. Medium sweet flavor, lightly roasty, some toasty candi sugars, chocolate. Light bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Clean finish, moderately sweet, mellow toasty bread, light roast, mild chocolate. Simple and pleasant.

Small brownish-beige head over well-carbonated dark brown beer with garnet highlights. Sweetish-woody nose, rather dry. Cocoa, some rootspice. Very dry, again woody. Some cocoa powder - maybe because I know, it being not really chocolate-like. Bitterish certainly. Feels tittilatingly carbonated, slick, medium bodied at best. Needs to grow a tad upon one. I’m in two minds as to whether the restrained cocoa is a boon, or rather a shame.

Draft @ CML Fontainas – pours black / dark brown, creamy mocha head. Nose is a bit odd, instant cacao, light mineral, kindergarten glue, chocolate,… taste is sweet cacao, bit odd once again, vague, touch mineral, sweet, bit weak, glue, cheap, chocolate, yeast, almost herbal,.. Tad light body // agreeable but not top.

Draft Moeder Lambic Fontainas.

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris
lot 330, bottled 28/09/12, bb 04/2014
Dark brown color, almost black, with generous creamy head. Mild aroma of cacao and light aroma of roasted malts; a bit dusty. The mouthfeel is dry, but smooth, there is some roasted malt and some chocolate; also a light astringency, from the yeast maybe; the final is drier and weaker.
An average Stout, with a chocolate hint, but without vibe.
