Medium, just off-white head over hazy ochre-orange beer. S.A. clearly there, ascertained by the blue mould cheese aroma. Bit of incense, and alien fruit. Blue cheese, mushrooms, citruspeel, very bitter, but in the finish, there’s a latent sweetness. Certain backthroat heat, very carbonated, quite slick, medium bodied. Restrained aftertaste, resiny. Quite good indeed - just as the Mikkeller single hop series S.A.... And again Barley wine seems designated for this hop, IMO. Thanks to Stefaan!

Bottle sample at a tasting at the new Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. Hazy golden with a white head. Hoppy aroma of Sorachi Ace with lemongrass, floral spiciness and some sweetish fruitiness. Flavor of Sorachi Ace with fruitiness, woody and floral spiciness and moderate bitterness. Medium-bodied. Pretty quaffable.

75cl bottle from Delhaize, bottled 11/2012.

75 cl. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Delhaize. Corked & caged with a synthetic cork. Brewed in Octobre 2012 & bottled in November 2012. Limited to 4000 bottles like the batches of the previous series. The accompanying booklet warns me that this American grown hop can taste extremely bitter & that I should brace myself. Very lightly hazy golden with a BIG fluffy white head. Herbal, light toothpaste bitterness in the nose, floral, quite a bit plastic with the other side of lemongrass. Bitter floral, light hop bitterness in the front, I can lightly recognise Sorachi Ace in this but not really the way I want it, this is Sorachi Ace but not the way I like it, my bad (bit sad because this is my favourite hop), bitter peel, very light earthly touch of Sorachi Ace blue cheese followed by quite a bit of sweetness, lots of coconut powder & cream, sweet grains, sweet spices, creamy, sweet lemon peel… Creamy body, too full for my taste. Too tame with too much sweetness for me in here to outbalance it. I assume that this is extreme for the average consumer. Not sure what to say about this , it is like something I really like (I am getting some Sorachi Ace in here) presented in a way I am not really digging. Very mixed feelings here.

1/II/13 - 75cl bottle from Delhaize @ home as aperitif (with Wim and Hilde) (2013-106)
clear orange beer, creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet ripe fruits, canned peaches, some citrus, exotic fruits, sweet and syrupy. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity, quite some citrus, grassy, dry hops, some spices, cloves, bitter touch. Aftertaste: bitter, dry and hoppy, some citrus, bit medicinal, nice hoppy and fruity flavours. Despite not being my favourite hop, still a very nice beer!
