Enjoyed at the 2012 Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. This is an unblended Lambiek direct from the brewery. Served in 2 ounce pours.
A - Dark red almost impossible to see light. Cloudy and haze. Dark.
S - Almond butter. Toffee and dry cherries. Slight raisin
T - almost a sour bomb. Dry cherries and acidic vinegar overtake my tongue. Oak and walnuts.
M - 0 carbonation. Light body. Vinegar finish
O - 2/5. It’s okay. Hanssens is alright and overly sour

Cloudy purple to red brown, no head. Aroma: cheesy, sweet, fermented fruit, vinous, bit sugary, smelly feet. MF: no carbon, medium to full body. Taste: moulded bread, bitter, sharp sourness, but unpleasant, vinous. Aftertaste: spices, vinous, vinegar, almonds, bitterness. Neither awful nor thrilling.

Big thanks to magicdave6 for that one. Deep red in the glass, fruity-moldy aroma, very much like cherry. Starts also very fruity, quite sweet. A sourishness follows, is increasing, in the finish almost aggressive. Aftertaste like a dry red wine. Good!

Deep bloody body. Pits, yoghurt and light cherry flesh in the nose. Some light phenolic character. Sweet and sour body but finishes fairly puckering. Very lively on the palate with a vibrant character and the way it turns sour at the end is awesome.
