Deep golden in color, BridgePort IPA has an assertive and fragrant hop character from the two full pounds of Cascade, Chinook, Goldings, Crystal and Ahtanum hops in every barrel. / (Our Original IPA) Over 20 years ago, our Original IPA set the standard for an American brewed IPA by using only the freshest Pacific Northwest ingredients available. That tradition continues today. We blend 5 hop varieties grown locally in the Willamette Valley to create a signature floral and citrus aroma. Bottle-conditioned to perfection, BridgePort IPA is exceptionally balanced with a soft round body and robust character.

Nice rich golden color with a moderate white head that lasted the entire glass. Aroma is a faint citrus and hops blend that teases the nose before the first sip. Taste is a great balance of citrus, malt, florals, and hops. The best part is definitely the crisp hop flavor. This is now one of my favorite IPA’s.

(On tap) Slightly hazy amber with a creamy, off-white head leaving some very smooth and delicate laces. Nose full of caramel and some aroma hops. Medium body with lots of fruit - some great peachy accents in particular. Hoppy - but not overly so - finish. Simple and very drinkable IPA. 210306

Clear, near-orange beer with medium off-white head, sligthly irregular. Unbelievable initial nose of organic decay or manure; then thankfully hops kick in, but the shock keeps simmering. Dry hopstaste, but with a fruity streak. Difficult to say what - oranges and kumquats with a dose of water and a pinch of maltsugar? Maybe a bit of nectarine as well. And hops, of course. Retronasal, however, there’s again something odd, vegetable-like or greenery. Old cut flowers’ water? I’m actually suspecting yeast autolysis... Rather light MF, not much body. OK IPA, a bit thin, overall. Plenty of better (and less shocking) samples around. Thanks to D.A.!

Hazy golden amber with slow moving tiny bubbles and an inch thick bleached white head. Very nice appearance. Hops are a little musty in the aroma, with peachy accents and some pine as well. Moderate bitterness...body again a bit musty, I guess from the yeast. This dulls the palate a bit more than I’d like. There is an even balance between simplistic but well-extracted pale malt base and a somewhat generic hoppiness. Using so many varieties is not something I’m a fan of...the hop character becomes indistinct. I’m getting shades of this and that, but nothing specific. The finish is dry, a bit harsh with that yeastiness.

This is a top notch ipa. It has an excellent floral and fruity aroma. Excellent appearance, dark orange with an initially large head that eventually fades to a thin white foam floating on the beer. Flavor is a complex blend of bitter hops with herbal characteristics as well as citrus. There is a medium sweet finish combined with a malt aftertaste.

Draft. Dark amber with a big off-white head. Grapefruit aroma. Big grapefruit flavor with some malt backing but I’d like to see a bit more. Nice hop flavor and a bitter finish but a bit one-sided. Easy to drink.

Bottle Pours a cloudy medium orange/amber with a small off-white head that quickly settles into a thin film that is maintained. Excellent fine, even lacing. Aroma is sweet full grain and hops. Taste is a hopy grapefruit rind and malt. Strange flavors but somehow easy going down. Feel very rich and full with a perfectly complimentary soft, fine carbonation. Trailer is the classic bitter of the style but so sharp or harsh. Quite nice IPA.

On tap at the Oregon Convention Center, sampled 3 August 2004. Served in a plastic cup...but still a great beer. Deep malt body with flavors of brown sugar and rich caramels counters the evident yet subdued pines and earthy elements provided by the hops. Medium-bodied and rich. Good stuff.

Huge off-white head over a hazy, amber beer. The aroma is a crisp mix of hops and malt, well balanced but minimal in intensity. The flavor is well balanced as well, finishing with a nice dry bitterness. The body is a touch on the thin side, but all in all this is very drinkable.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy, OK head. Aroma is great, flowery and fruity. The same goes for the flavour which is also flowery and fruity but also quite bitter.
