A special brew on the occasion of the opening of the abby tower in Sint-Truiden on May 1, 2005. This triple has a somewhat darker (orange like) colour and a slightly fuller taste than our Kerckomse Tripel, if only to clarify that these are two completely different Triple beers. What makes Adelardus Tripel so special, is the use of so-called ‘gruut’. This is a mixture of about 10 different indigenous herbs.

(33cl bottle) Hazy, orange to golden colour with a big and dense, slightly off-white foamy head. Yeasty and sweet bready (cara-)malty aroma with subtle notes of citrus and a tinge of herbal, spicy hops. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a calm carbonation. Bready, slightly zesty taste with shy notes of citrus; slightly sweet cara-malty and hop bitter finish with a vague nutty touch (25.V.09).

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Hazy golden with floating impurities and a rough off-white head. Sweetish aroma of fruit and fat syrup with some yeastiness. Quite full-bodied with very sweet fruit accents and a little yeast. No real bitterness but lightly phenollic accents. 190209

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and fruit. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of fruit and caramel as well as lighter notes of alcohol and spices. A bit to thin in the body for a triple. Thanks yespr for sharing.
