A special brew on the occasion of the opening of the abby tower in Sint-Truiden on May 1, 2005. This triple has a somewhat darker (orange like) colour and a slightly fuller taste than our Kerckomse Tripel, if only to clarify that these are two completely different Triple beers. What makes Adelardus Tripel so special, is the use of so-called ‘gruut’. This is a mixture of about 10 different indigenous herbs.

ABV used to be 9%

tap@Chez Moeder Lambic: had a nice sweet aftertaste with a hint of honey, nothing bitter, some candy sugar, citrus fruits, sweet fruits (bananas, melon & peach), balanced, smooth, sweet & fruity tripel which is something that I like

Deep golden color, big creamy white head, lace. Citrusy hoppyness in the nose, slightly fruity too. Fruity (apricot, lychee) triple with some alcohol in the finish and light hoppyness/spiceyness. Pale malty, reasonably light ABV for this ABV.

Pretty clear dark orange to reddish beer. Off-white head, dissipates fast and completely. Aroma: caramel, sweet malts, ripe fruits. MF: light but ok carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity, a little sweet, hop bitters, a hint of toasted malts, spices. Aftertaste: hop bitters, a little fruity, citrus fruits. Very dry long lasting finish.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a finely bubbled foamy head. Not much aroma other than a little caramel and mild fruit. Near medium body with foamy carbonation. A tinge of heat. Flavor is light stone fruit with a touch of citrus. Rather well balanced by hop and/or citrus. Good everyday drink.

A sweet tripel. Sugar cane, subtle yellow fruits. A light hoppy finish. No bitterness. Not your usual tripel. 3.4.

Old bottle from Kulminator I think. Cloudy amber beer, little white head. Sweet malt nose. Light palate, starts soft but has a carbonated bite. Sweet malt, nice orangey citrus - almost sherbet. Minerals and creamy malt in the mid. Semi dry finish. Great stuff. Has aged really well.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Clear orange gold, with very thin off white head. A more malty more restrained tripel, with some decent hop on finish, but also some boozy quality to it. Pretty good, but just lacks a bit of a je ne sais quoi drinkability
