Bouteille @ 4de Gentse Bierfestival. Orangée, col trouble col blanc cassé. Arôme offre un bouquet très belge renforcé ici par qcq notes de piments qui se notent de suite au nez. Le tout garde un ajout houblonné modéré qui apporte une petite fraîcheur citronnée. Palais de levure belge, l’ajout épicé de piment grillé offre un ajout réchauffant en bouche. Le tout semble adouci par une pointe de fleur orangée rappelant presque une mielleux léger. Le pétillant est modéré pour une bière qui au final reste belge.

50 cl. bottle sampled @ GBF 2013. Murky dark orange with a white head. Smell is surprisingly thick BE yeast, hay, touch coffee and light black pepper, small touch caramel. Taste is sweet oranges, caramel, BE yeast, touch hay, slight bitter herbs, malty, and a very nice black pepper finish which is not to heavy. Slightly livelier carb. with a nice yeast body. Bit surprised about the presence of BE yeast or at least BE-like yeast. Quite a lovely beer. Thx! to the RB Crew for sharing.

Very huge, stable, yellow-cream head, veiled, but glowing orange to chestnut beer. Grain, ornamental maize, bit dusty. No chili, no roastiness in the nose. Some darker malts at the back. Sweet-caramalt (no sticky caramel), again very little pepper - if any. Maybe some hints at Spanish (sweet) peppers, poivrons. Very slick, near viscous, even a tad creamy. Special, but not very "Belgian"IMO. Better than the sum of its parts.

Clear pale amber beer, irregular off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: caramel, sweet bready, sugary, some toast, fruity, hint of citrus. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: citrus start, bit bready, hops, slightly hot spiciness, some caramel. Aftertaste: bitter hops,c itrus, toast, some peppers, chili burn, bit grassy, floral ending with some cocoa powder.
