Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. It pours a still mahogany with copper edges. The aroma offers up molasses, crispy dried caramel and rich brown sugar covered cherries and plums. Behind those notes are smooth sweet barrel notes. The taste has some brown sugar mixing with cherries and solid yummy woody earthiness that pulls this thing all together. Good tasting stuff.

Dark brown colour, no head. Aroma of jenever, port, gin, quite sweet, juniper berries, madeira, dark fruits. Sweet flavour, port, juniper berries. No carbonation. Sticky sweet finish, madeira and juniper berry.
Interesting, and very nice to see the effects of a jenever barrel on a dark beer.

Wooden cask @ ZBF 2012 // clear dark brown / zero head // smell is heavy of sweet liquorish, caramel, candy & dark fruits // taste is liquorish heavy mixed with porto, candy, toffee malts, woods, herbal & touch bitter in the vanish with a weird vinous / vegetable streak in the finish // soft carbonation // the liquorish & the weird finish // those flavours & combination // pass

From a small wooden cask @ ZBF’12. Pours completely flat.
