Bottle from Hasegawa. Poured into a Duvel glass. Pours a clear copper with a small beige head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aromas of rice, biscuit, fresh baked bread and alcohol. Average carbonation with a medium body. Cola-like mouthfeel. The sake definitely leaves a little too much sweetness on the palate for my liking. Malty with some wood (cedar?) noticeable as well. Slightly bitter finish that is warming. A solid beer, but not one of Hitachino’s best. --- Beer merged from original tick of XH on 12 Jun 2015 at 12:25 - Score: 6

330ml bottle from Saveur-biere.com. Pours a deep brown with minimal off-white head. Sweet malt aroma. Not much of the Belgian Dark Ale remaining, coming off more like a boozy 14% barley wine in terms of slick mouthfeel and taste than an 8% Belgian beer. Ok, but wasn’t in the mood for a barley wine tonight!

330ml bottle from deep Amber colour with a thin white head. Deep sweet malt aroma. Taste is also quite sweet. Lovely beer that does show its alcohol.

Tan-amber color, dense ivory froth. Intense honey liqueur aroma, and a tinge of chocolate. Soft and gentle in spite of its high alcohol contents. Sweet and creamy texture. Rather short finish.

Tap at irreale. Opaque cloudy Amber, low golden lace. Bockish iron laced nose, fruited caramel base, a hint spice and salt licorice. Medium sticky body. Salty herbal caramel finish. A bit too sticky for my taste.

Bottle, Amber/ cloudy read color, off white head that held the retention. Aroma is dried fruits, mineral water element, wood cask and light sake.

The body is fuller with a nice creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is mostly the same as the aroma. Im not a connoisseur of sake but you can get the flavor in the finish rather well. The wood oak cask goes with the sake character. Interesting and tasty.
