Kerstpater heeft een diepe, donkerbruine kleur met een streepje rood. Het beige schuim verbergt warm alcoholzoet in een bier dat geurt naar chocolade, zoet van karamel en kandij. In de mond komt het kandijsuiker terug, aangenaam gecombineerd met chocoladebitter. De afdronk is lang en zalig zoet.

Med-thin bod, med carbo. Med-high sweet, kinda too much. Lots of dried fruits, general fruitiness too. Good but not great.

Bottle at work. Loads of candi sugar, some dried fruits, a touch of nuts. Fairly sweet, also light, drinks well below the abv. Not terrible, so better than anticipated I guess?

Bottle at home. Aroma is sweet malt, candy sugar, caramel, marzipan, candy, raisins, spicy notes. Flavour is quite sugary sweet with some bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Good if you like übersweet beers I suppose, it’s just not for me.

0.33 l bottle from 'SpeciaalBierPakket.nl', best before October 2029. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity and minimally vinous aroma of caramel, chocolate, raisins and prunes. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity, a bit yeasty and a little vinous taste of molasses, caramel, raisins, prunes, some chocolate and hints of marzipan, followed by a short, moderately bitter finish. Medium body, rather effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Not overly outspoken but well-balanced ale, actually quite pleasant.

Kerst Pater (brouwjaar 2023), Fläschchen von Jef. - Schwarzbraun, reichlicher aber kurzlebiger Schaum. - In der Nase aromatische aber leicht künstliche lakritzig-fruchtige Aromen, rote Waldbeeren, Rübensirup und fettes aber mattes Röstmalz. - Antrunk arg süß dunkelmalzig und satt fruchtig, rote Johannisbeeren, Himbeersirup, nur blasse Mokkanote, ein wenig Moos. Für ein Bier dieser Stärke enttäuschend flach. Spritzig rezent, vollmundig; gut kaschierter Alkohol. Noch im Abgang dominiert klebrige Süße, die Hopfung ist nur angedeutet. - Zuckersüß und ohne Tiefgang, nicht meine Vorstellung von einem Weihnachtsbier. (30.12.2023.)

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Clear dark brown with an off-white head. Malty aroma with dried fruits. Sweet taste with a sweet taste. Quite thin mouthfeel. Decent.
