Can an IPA be black? Semantics aside, this noir version has subtle coffee undertones born of a blend of oats with dark, Munich and crystal malts. What emerges is something deeper, less orthodox, and all its own. After 22 trial runs in our Bend and Portland pubs, we got it right.
Malt: Pale, Crystal, Chocolate, Chocolate Wheat, Black Barley, Flaked Oats, Toasted Oats.
Hops: Northern Brewer, Nugget, Centennial, Amarillo, Cascade, Citra

Great Black IPA. Lots of roast malt in this with some chocolate even. Some citrus hops, with a dry bitter hop feel. Pours dark with great head and lacing. Medium bitter finish. Tap takeover at Good Dog.

Definitely a major yes for the style. No roasted malt that can confuse it with some sort of Stout. Best by August 2, 2014.

Bottle @ Christers. Pours black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, caramel, fruity hops, peach. Flavor is malts, caramel, coffee, chocolate, licorice, bitter fruity hops. Medium to full body, lively carbonation, bitter finish. Maybe more stoutlike than a Black IPA. 170113
