The palest maris otter malt provides a full bodied base for generous quantities of Goldings hops. Bitterness is pronounced, spicy and resinous and will smooth out over time. Dry hopping with extra Goldings before bottling ensures a full aroma and rich characterful bitterness.

500 ml. bottle @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. This on is supposed to be an old style English IPA. Pours golden with way too much head, had to swallow some head in order to keep the glass from running over whilst trying to take a first sip, not terribly pleasant. Floral and herbal aroma, some soft mellow lightly summer fruits, some yeast creeping up, light caramel. Taste is lightly sweet malty dominance, quite a bit yeast, mellow caramel, lightly fruity with some caramel, touch floral going into light herbal back. Mellow, lovely enjoyable in the full 500 ml. and easy to drink. Slightly fuller, light yeast body. Interesting, very different from what most people on here probably associate with an IPA, quite enjoyable, well done.

50 cl bottle @ Gastrpub Soho, BBE 06/2014
Huge, cloudy head and lots of carbonation keeping it up. Aroma is fruity with peaches, some caramel and distant floral notes. Flavour is sweet with some fruits. Finishes with alcohol, some English toffee and strong floral notes. Palate is surprisingly low on CO2. Not very good.

50cl bottle from Beer City, BB 06/2013, batch#2277.

Bottle from Nina’s, Edinburgh
Amber, light orange...creamy hazy...big pillowy head...good lacing
Aroma - Bitter spicy English hops, hint of alcohol, floral yeast esters, Belgian yeast, some light fruits in the background, slight hint of peach or apricot, soft sweet golden malts, light candy sugar
Taste - As the aroma, peppery bitter initially with some alcohol which is for 7% is considerably noticeable but blends somewhat with the peppery bitterness from the English hops. The yeast flavour, Belgian-like comes through strongly, floral esters, soft light fruits. Unusual for an IPA - there isn’t the big fruity citrus, piney, resin tastes in here. It is bitter, hedgerow English hops and Belgian yeast. I do like this and it has a fair amount of complexity - perhaps a bit too much alcohol in the flavour
Palate - soft carb, medium body, mouth puckering, bit powdery. Finish - some alcohol burn with soft yeast and light fruits (possibly apricot and some grape). A bit of grapefruit comes through too. Quite dry, bit of a metallic linger though
Overall - An unusual IPA that works for me. This is a historical brew it seems so that makes it all the more interesting. Bit too easy to drink though....

Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Light amber pour with a white head. Pear and baked apple aroma. Initial fruit burst in the flavour followed by a dominant spiritesque alcohol kick. Needs more work this one.

500ml bottle at The Bottle Shop Canterbury. What an odd beer. Some ipa character some belgian character i think. Lits of bitterness on finish. A distinctly odd beer that has some good elements like the malt and hops. Like a lot of Durham beers it confuses and pleases me in equal amounts. Yes hoppy yes bitter but there is almost a Duvel or 3 Monts quality to it. Good but steange
