I enjoyed this on tap at Local Option in Chicago, IL while hanging out with a good friend for his birthday party. Appearance clearish copper with good head retention. Aroma of spices, a hint of lactose surprisingly along with malt. Taste good creaminess, malts, clove, a bit of cinnamon, somewhat sweet. A lot going on with this one, I like it.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma has lots of cinnamon with medicinal cherry and ginger. Flavor puts the cinnamon in charge, with the medicinal cherry, some ginger, some toasted biscuit, and caramel. I really like the cinnamon here.

An amber ale with a thin light moka head. A lightly cloying aroma of buttery malt, vinous notes, light spices, not bad. In mouth, a nice sweet biscuitty malt with smooth hops, juniper, warming alcohol, nicer than expected, nicely aged. 09 vintage on tap at MacGregors, July 31 2010.

Aroma: The nose is spice, some cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and caramel
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear amber color with a fizzy beige head
Flavor: Taste is somewhat sweet, lots of spice too, mild pine/citrus hop bitter finish
Palate: This one has a medium body and a somewhat syrupy mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Overall, I can't exactly explain why, but I like this beer a lot. One beer that I can't help but like. This is one of those beers that, when you describe it, doesn't sound quite as good as it actually is. I really like it, but my words above feel like I just sort of liked it.

Bottle thanks to my Uncle. Poured a hazy earthy brown with a tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was a combination of bread, hay, biscuits and a good amount of spice (cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.) Flavor began with some spice by gave to smooth bread and biscuit.

Bottle thanks to beervirgin72. Bottle marked best by 03/11/08, so this has some age on it. Pours with a smallish, light brown head with a slightly hazed copper body and good lace. Aroma of maple syrup, cereal, wet dog and light spices. Taste is maple syrup, caramel, cinnamon, and cereal. Pleasant. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, light carbonation.

bottle - Pours amber and smells of rich malt and spice. The flavor is sweet caramel malt, holiday spices, and a touch of mild hops. It’s medium bodied and very session-able. The ABV is a little higher than I would have guessed.
