16 ounce can into pint glass, best before 7/29/2019. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuts, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, cream, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, cocoa, lactose, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop noted; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuts, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, cream, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hop, and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuts, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread/crust, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, cocoa, light-moderate earthy hops, and light lactose/fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/char bitter/sweet balance; and no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is an excellent oatmeal stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, cocoa, light-moderate earthy hops, and light lactose/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/charred/drying finish. Nicely rich malt complexity, balancing earthy hops; and mild fruity yeast presence. A very enjoyable offering. Was expecting a sweeter beer like other milkshakes; but instead this is spot on Oatmeal stout on the levels of hop/roast bitterness. Lactose was not as apparent as most others.
