Bottle at home prior to Sunday lunch, cheers to Shane, 23/02/14. Lightly hazed golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is floral, straw, melon, almond, orange, bread dough. Taste comprises floral hop, melon, lemon rind, bread dough, perfumed notes. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Ok GB.

Golden. Aroma is light with floral honey and a gentle fruity hop character. Nice, easy-drinking balanced golden ale.

Floral hop aroma. Citrus and hop in the flavour with a nice dry finish. A perfect session ale.

Bottle that Dad shared- cheers. Light amber with a moderate white head. Some lemon, lime and pine but it’s all very restrained. Little bitterness. OK flavourwise, just needs less timid use of the hops. Champion beer of Britain? I really don’t think so.

Cask at New Britannia, Preston. Pours clear yellow gold with a thick white head. Aromas of bready malt and light lemon hops. Lemony notes continue whilst drinking, alongside hay. Decent bitterness, but ultimately a bit thin.

500ml bottle. Clear golden amber colour, foam white head and aroma of grain & spicy hop. Taste is malt & grain, with a metallic tang, and some woody & spicy hop bitterness. LIght bodied, medium carbonation, dry lingering metallic bitter finish. OK.

Poured a clear yellow straw colour with a thin white broken head, broken lace and high carbonation. The aroma is peachy, leading to a medium bitter, malty slightly zesty flavour with some fruity notes on the palate and a mild bitter lingering aftertaste. A very drinkable summer session beer served cool.

Three hand-pulled pints for Sunday lunch on 18 Nov 2012 @ The Wrekin Inn, Wellington, Shropshire. Completely different drink to the bottled version: this is miles better. Pours the pale golden colour you’d expect with a good head that stays. Great blend of flavours give the beer a slightly maltier feel than hoppy, although there is a dry bitter finish from the hops that takes over two thirds of the way through each gulp. Very, very easy to drink (hence my three pints) and leaning towards sweet; it suits my taste buds nicely. Good body depth and I can now understand how it got to win its various awards.
