Can: Poured a black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light black chocolate notes is quite enticing. Taste is a mix of light roasted malt with some chocolate notes with residual sugar notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Very well brewed for the style with good drinkability.

On tap at the Baddeck Yacht Club, Baddeck NS. A peaty brown pour with a thick cream head; soft and smooth in the mouth with a sweet earthy deeply roasted malt taste; and a drier finish with some purple fruit and chocolate. Rather good.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear dark brown with a touch of amber and a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice roasted malt note with dark grains and a bit of a sweetness. Flavor has earthy dark grains with roasted malts and a a hint of coffee underlying.

Keg at Maxwell’s Plum. It pours darkest brown with a tiny light tan head. The nose is fresh, earthy roast, cocoa, coffee beans, freshly ground coffee, doughnuts and light vanilla. The taste is bitter-sweet, sweet roast, chocolate, toasty grainy, earthy roast, big coffee character, toasty cereal with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth, but decent enough.

Draft at Red Shoe Pub. Opaque dark brown with a ring of tan foam. Coffee aroma, roasted grain taste, thin body and malt finish. OK but not a standout stout.

On tap at The Maxwells Plum in Halifax Roasty and a bit fruity with hints of light chocolate. Nice enough oatmeal stout but a bit thin and light on the creaminess.

A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a nice roasted chocolate malt with good coffee notes. In mouth, good chocolate malt with grassy hops, lightly metallic, and a bit watery, but nice.
