A light chestnut in colour which puts it into the ‘brown beer’ category. As far as flavour goes, it tends rather more towards the malt than the hops, though there is a pleasing hop taste right at the finish. The aroma is light and pleasant.

Cask at Alfred Free House, Upper Hale, 16/03/17. Vague malty aroma. Light chestnut. Thin white head, with 50% coverage. Light bitter. A kinda lemon-melon sourness. Malty. Medium bodied. Pleasant soft carbonation. Slightly astringent finish. Nice. ’Soft’ is the key word. However I would have never pegged it as a brown! Drops a point.

Cask at Derehams Inn beer festival, High Wycombe. Amber with a small white head. Caramel with maybe a little baked apple. On the sweet side. Not a lot else. Sweet and bland really. Bowman are normally better than this.

Cask@Reading Beer Festival 2012. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is marzipan, a bit eggy with some notes of caramel and yeast. Flavour is fruity, wooden, herbal and quite sweet malty notes too. Ends in a quite nice and bitter way.

(Cask at Swann, Liverpool, 18 July 2009) Amber colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with orange peel and marmalade. Fruity, malty taste with notes of caramel, orange peel and a bittersweet, earthy bitterness. Nice beer with a good balance between malt and hops.
