Bottle. Pours clear pale golden with airy white head. Soruish and estery aroma. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with mild estery notes and touches of citrus. Mildly bitter afteraste. OK but rather watery for the style.

33cl bottle from Tesco. Now I love me a noble hop lager. So how does this one stand up? Clear gold with a lasting white head. Some Greene King yeast which doesn’t really go with a lager but never mind. Some noble hop, herby hop. It’s ok in the mouth, the malts are fine, some ok bitterness on the finish. The problem here is the strident yeast. Using an ale yeast to brew a noble lager just doesn’t work. Stick a neutral yeast on this and it’d be pretty reasonable, but as it is, with the GK house yeast, it’s ok, but ultimately fails.

Bottle @ Inn on the Green, Harpenden. Deep yellow colour. Aroma is astringent and fairly nasty. If you isolated and concentrated the astringency in Abbot, it would smell like this. Taste is a combination of the chemical flavour of a mass-produced lager and the blandness of a poor real ale. Still, something kept me drinking it.

Half a pint to break up a long walk in The Stapleton Tavern, Stroud Green. Pours typical golden amber, floral aroma, light but with a full flavour, getting tastier as you work your way through. Very nice lager.

Keg at the Mitre - London. Pours clear gold with a slight, creamy white head. Fine white bread nose, hints of doughy biscuits. Light to medium swet flavor with more simple white bread and biscuits, faint straw, low bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Reasonably clean to finish, just more white bread, hay, biscuits, light cereal. Not bad.
