Bottle at home, from the CoOp, 29/03/20. Clear golden with a well formed white cap of bubbles that soon collapses. Nose is bitter sweet apples, vanilla icing, orchard wood, mellow orchard fruits. Taste comprises mellow apple pulp, grass, light tannins, hay bale. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Decent enough cider.

500ml bottle from Scrattings. Golden colour, foamy white head that dissipates away to a thin rim and aroma of fruity citric apple, light funk. Taste is sweetish, apple, fruity, alittle apple skin, crisp, dry sulphury, with some tartness and acidity. Light to medium bodied, medium slightly spritzy carbonation, drying citric finish. Quite OK.

Bottle at home from Eebria. I don't drink cider (too many bad experiences in my youth) but I had to try this as I used to work with the eponymous Mr Pearson before he left to follow his dream. A diamond sharp clarity in the tankard and a gentle aroma of English apples. The taste was lightly sweet apples with a thirst quenching mouthfeel. What got me was the gentleness of the natural apple flavour and was a bit of a revelation. It was crying out to be partnered with some cheese and meats, but unfortunately my wife had a sip and proceeded to drink most of the rest of it. Oh well.

Bottle from Budgens, Broadway. Clear yellow-gold with a medium fizz. Sweet fresh apples throughout, just a hint of dryness in the finish but definitely on the sweet side of medium. Good flavour though, like the freshness. With the low abv, and the sweetness, clarity and fizz it feels like this is targeted at the premium mass-market rather than the ciderheads- but it’s much tastier than many similar ciders. Not bad.

Bottle from Cotswold Vintners, Chipping Sodbury. Pale gold in colour, with decent carbonation. Sweetish, fresh apple fruit aroma with a slight mineral edge. Easy drinking with more crisp fruit, sweetness to the fore, before a gentle finish. Fine.
