Leicht säuerlicher, deutlich alkoholischer Beginn. Unterdurchschnittlich karbonisiert, etwas holzig, dunkles, leicht karamelliges Malz. Alkoholisch bleibend, weiche Herbe, etwas kräutrig. Langer malziger Abgang. 11/10/11/10/8/10

Bottle, shared with my girlfriend and brother. Pours a clear brown, small head. Aroma is rich, complex, light acidity, Brett and funky. Vinous, which is nice and ironic for a barley wine. Interesting idea to make a barley wine with kveik and Brett, definitely translates into something peculiar and complex. Medium to big body. Flavour is very sweet, rich, vinous, light acidity, some balsamic. Prune and caramel, fig, biscuit malt. Very nice, complex, funky barley wine.

Cellared for nearly two years. Auburn with a frothy to creamy head that lingers. Aroma of Christmas spices, plums, oak. Taste is mildly bitter with both a light tartness and clove spiciness at the finish. Lingering oak. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. Pretty good stuff. You just can’t go wrong with Flügge.

Bottle, bierkiste. Light hazy red amber, low head. Berry, rum, and wood, brett aromatics, some herbal notes. medium to full viscous body, mellow mouthfeel, a tiny hint puree. Pleasant sweetness tempered by balsamico and Brett. Dry wooden finish, fermented berries and sage. A bit heavy, but very drinkable at this stage, need to get anoter bottle to age.

2018 vintage, bottled Jan 20, 2019. Hazy dark orange color with dense off-white head. Aroma is definitely tart, bretty, figs and plums and raisins, Oud-Bruin-like, but less balsamico. Taste is sweet and raisiny, plums, figs, thick, jam, just a bit of a tart edge, not too bitter in the back. Very chewy mouthfeel, a bit yeasty, low and soft carbonation. Very good one, perhaps a little bit sweeter than in its sweet spot, so maybe waiting another year would be even better, but I'm not complaining!

0.33 l bottle from 'Beyond Beer', 2018 vintage, bottled in January 2019. Drunk on the occasion of my son Karl Levi's 1st birthday, could there be any better beer for it?! Slightly hazy, ruby with a thin, frothy almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity, slightly funky aroma of marmelade, molasses, raisins, figs and brett. Gently sweet malty, gently funky and slightly fruity taste of marmelade, raisins, figs, molasses and brett, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, gently funky finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really well done, the malty sweetness and the brettanomyces are perfectly balanced. I had hoped for a bit more depth but it's a bold beer nevertheless.
