Bottle from Elliot and Patti, thanks a lot guys! Thicc oily, jet black pour, beige head. nose is big vanilla, booze, chocolate. Taste is beautiful, sweet bourbon notes, booze, chocolate, some nougat. Not overcomplex, but very well balanced and nicely rounded. Medium to heavy body, but not overwhelmingly, soft carbonation, true sipper. Lovely.

750 ml bottle, vintage 2018. Black body, with a quite small, creamy, beige head. Aroma of bourbon, coffee, cocoa, powder, soy sauce, liquorice, dark chocolate, wood, some tobacco. Tastes similar, with some honey. Medium, quite creamy mouthfeel, with a low carbonation. Finishes roasty, moderate sweet, wooden, with coffee, cocoa powder, wood, soy sauce, tobacco, liquorice, honey, some bourbon, some chocolate. Tasty! Well balanced, lots of roasty notes, while pretty smooth, with the bourbon barrel well integrated. Lovely sipper. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 17

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is fairly oak and bourbon forward. Moderately strong chocolate notes with light roast, caramel, toffee and honey. Light alcohol spice. Hints of vanilla and almond. Pours black with a medium large, thick, mocha head head that recedes steadily to a small, thick, creamy head that remains in clumps in the center and on the edges. Light lacing and fairly long legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with layers of chocolate notes. Lighter roast, honey, caramel and toffee notes. Hints of dark fruit, vanilla and almond. Fairly strong oak and bourbon notes. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent stout but it's a bit too oak forward (as it should be) for me. Solid malt notes and the alcohol is well hidden. This year's base stout is pretty nice.
