The oak coloured 3.8% ABV beer is, arguably, one of the UK's first 'brunette IPA’s’ and has a refreshing taste with a clean, crisp hop aroma and a full bodied roast malt flavour.

Bottle from B&M. Poured mid-brown with a modest off-white to beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, mild roasted malt, light fruity, hoppy and floral notes. Moderate sweetness, light bitterness, slight tart hint. Lacked body, quite thin texture, average carbonation. Looks it's high point.

500ml bottle: BBE Dec 2015. Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 23 April 2015. Nice looking beer, mahogany body, clear and clean: the head a full and lasting deep beige blanket of foam. I rarely give a 5 for appearance, so this is a looker. Roasted malt nose and initial taste, some soft fruit notes in the flavour also, mild bitter finish but this is mostly a malty brew in all aspects. Just lacks depth and strength in both the palate and flavourings in my opinion.

500ml bottle. Pours a deep red without much head. No real aroma, taste is malt sweetness with a little spice. Little bit watery, ok but pretty unremarkable

Bottle. Nose is almost non-eixstent. Slight mal, slight cardboard, slight chemical. Taste is roast, floral hops, slight barley, hazlenut. Mouthfeel is fine. It’s an unexceptional bitter, which carries on the long tradition of British Brewers using misogynistic imagery and/or names for their beers. Or rather the slightly crap British brewers do it (you don’t see Kernel or Buxton doing it....). You lose a point on the overall, do please grow up.

500ml bottle from Morrisons. Dark Amber browm colour. With a big white head. Not the most bitter like bitter I’ve drunk. But ok.

50cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell at 3.8% ABV. A reddish chestnut colour with an attractive loose cream head; floral aroma with some citrus; and a light zesty lemon taste with a sweet caramel body - an unusual, but quite successful combination; and a refreshing sweet grapefruit finish. Unusual and surprisingly good.

500ml bottle at 3.8%. Pours dark brown with a large head. Aroma is woody and bready with some dark fruits. Taste is woody, some toast. A little sweetness. Not bad for a 3.8% bottled bitter.

Chocolatey brown colour. Aroma has a nice mix of caramel malts and fresh, citrusy hop. This is reflected in the flavour too. Body is quite thin but it smooth and easy to drink.
