6/8/2025. Cask at GBBF 2025. Citrus, grassy, malty, straw aroma. Very slightly starchy. Moderate sweetness, bitterness and body. Dry edge. Quite okay.

Handpull cask at the Ship, Talbot Court, City of London. Very dark gold/bronze and clear with a fluffy beige head. Sulphurous, astringent aroma with malt notes and the earthlings of Goldings. Deep malty sweetness is only half-heartedly challenged by the spicy hop. Long sweet finish, just a little bit cloying. Full body, soft carbonation. It's decent enough for a Brains beer (my last Brains tick must have been ages ago), but it's not that clever a recipe really.

Bottle from Aldi, Manchester. Paler golden with a small head. Has that skuniness flavour often associated with clear glass bottles, and this came in a clear glass bottle. I usually pick from the back of the selection in the dark part of the shelf, but it clearly doesn't take much for the taste of the beer to be affected by light. It's not undrinkable though, with a hoppy base.

50cl bottle from Aldi, Bracknell. A straw coloured pour with a billowing white head; musty aroma with some traces of lemon; dry floral body with biscuity malts; becoming sweeter, with a herbal bitterness; then a drier finish with some grassy citrus, and an unexpected warmth. Better than anticipated.

Clear pale blond colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have some toasted malts, floral hop and a little citrus in the finish.

Cask half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 28th Apr 2017. Clear golden pour, snowy white head that lasted. A little too much lemony citrus flavours for me, but a typical UK golden, citrus leaning beer every brewery seems to be producing currently. Light bitterness in the finish and quite refreshing all round, if you like citrus fruitiness in a beer. Scored objectively.
