La bière de Noël Uberach à tout d’une belle. Toute en rondeurs, synonymes de volupté, sa robe se fait douce aux reflets cuivrés. Cocon suave ou domine la cannelle.

Cloudy amber beer. Light palate, semi dry. Sweet malt with an undertone of sweet orange. Bare whisper of something spicy - possibly cloves. Soft dry finish with a little apple joining the orange.

Bouteille ( Merci, Quack-Duck!): Cloudy, clumps of yeast visible, smaller off-white foamy layer, cinnamon and presumably further x-mas spices in the flowery-yeasty nose ; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied and quite soft; lingering hoppy-bitter and yeasty finish. No repetition necessary…

(bottle, courtesy of Quack-Duck) Cloudy, golden to light-amber colour with a big but collapsing off-white foamy head. Yeasty, caramel-malty aroma with notes of gingerbread and x-mas spices. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Cara-malty and spicy taste with notes of biscuits and gingerbread; sweet and shy bitter finish with x-mas spices in the aftertaste. Not my cup of tea. 29.II.12

Sample at Eurostash III tasting on 01/12/2012: Bottle from a small shop in Strasbourg. Hazy orange color with a medium ivory white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Fruits and spices in the nose. Light body with a sweetly spiced character and flavors of malt and a bit of fruit. The finish is sweet with a short fruity aftertaste. Fairly average overall.

Yeah, all that. I’m not an Uberach fan and honestly think that they should halve the number of beers offered and double the quality; but when it comes to Christmas beers I am always willing to give it a try. So, this is a 500ml bottle. Pours with weak head and an average foggy yellow-orange body. Aroma of orange peels and hops. Taste is very smooth and almost flavourless, bringing out the orange hints and hops in the aftertaste. Smooth for sure, but needs to be much more well structured.

Tasting at Papsø’s
Cloudy blond color. Mild spicy aroma. Sweetish flavor, not really malty, with some cinnamon. Not bad, but unachieved.
