Cask at Angleterre, Helsinki. Colour is copper with white brownish head. Aromas and flavours are grass, sweetness, malts and bread. Strange alcohol in taste.

I really wasn’t keen on this one. A nice-looking pint with a decent head, but I found the first taste too sickly-sweet and then it’s an almost burnt aftertaste which was far too bitter. Rather than offering balance it just meant there were two flavours I wasn’t very keen on.

Subtle wood aromas, nice and smooth, with less than obvious chocolate and caramel flavourings.

Cask at the Prince of Wales, Aberdeen. It pours clear deep amber, with a small off-white head. The nose is wood, spice, milk chocolate and brown bread. The taste is varnish, wood, dark berry, light spice, leather, smoke and milk chocolate, with a dry, woody finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and good balance. Nice.

Cask@Market Porter. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is grass, herbs, some bready malts as well as some mild leathery notes. Flavour s fruity and floral hops along with some grass and maltyness. Rather bitter in the finish.

Cask at the Crosse Key, JDW. Pours a clear, deep ruby with a bubbly, off-white head. Caramel, toffe and ripe fruits like grapes on the nose. Flavor is sweet and quite fruity, with some wood, sugar syrup, alcohol and herbal hops. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light dryness in the finish with some pleasantly surprising roastiness, more almost ripe fruits, not too sweet. An interesting, slightly incongruous beer.

@ Halfway House. Dull dark amber. The aroma is actually kind of faint. Toasty, with hints of bread. There is some malty nuance, but the beer overall might be too sweet and insufficiently nuanced.
