U.S Meets Europe S.I.P.A. - Collaborating with De Molen Brewery in the "Green Heart" of The Netherlands, we have created a wild and inventive recipe that is a unique blend of the best from both worlds! A super-charged Saison I.P.A. is born, featuring kilos of American hops to add a crazy twist to this European-style ale. The fruity, spicy flavors of this malty Double Saison are nicely complimented by an abundance of late and dry-hopping with the finest American hops.

Bottle from bierkompass.de.Amber color with medium beige head. Aroma of malt, honey, red berries, tangerines, grapefruit. Taste, is initially quite sweet with sweet malt and honey together with spices, towards the end, aromatic hops arrives in light not disturbing version. Light hoppy finish. Delight. I am courious how De Molen version tastes.

Bottle, courtesy of Cuso. Aroma is mostly hoppy, tangerine, orange zest. Taste is strong strong sweet, nicely grainy. Then hops shows itself, in just right quantity. Really nice one. Tasty above all. I hope to revisit this in the future.

Hazy deep amber beer with a good pale cream coloured head. Nose of generic fruits sherbet and malt cream. Palate is smooth and viscous with fine carbonation. Smooth malt cream supports pleasant generic fruit sherbet, gets zingy before turning slightly yeasty bitter. Mild minerals before a smooth finish. Fruity aftertaste. Unusual and tasty beer. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Super-Charged Saison IPA on 09 Nov 2012 at 10:31 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Borefts warm up -bottle in the Hotel. Very hazy amber beer with a massive pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and soft. Nice toffee malt - smooth, mild and creamy. Some mild spice and a whisper of herbs (must be a saison then!). Nice mild marmalade hops. Aniseed alcohol. Finishes smooth. This comes over as quite barleywine like apart from the spice and herbs.

A popular US brewery in Scandinavia is Hoppin’ Frog who are usually unavailable in Japan but did this collaboration with De Molen. It is a double saison (?) hopped like an IPA. 10.4% Bottled on July 12th, 2012 & opened on July 12th, 2013. The color is a very dark opaque brownish-gold which isn’t normal for a saison. Powerful fruity hop aroma with hints of grapes, apricots, kind of a tropical fruit vibe, nice. Kind of boozy flavor but nice like a rich Belgian beer, the malts provide a solid full body, slightly spicy as it should be for a saison. An interesting flavor mixing hops, malts & yeasty spice which is quite delicious with each sip highlighting something different. Top knotch.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s during Jack’s Farewell Tour, Opening Night in London - big thanks to Jack himself. Pours hazy, deep amber with a large, strong yellow-tan froth head. Nose has some booze, bananas, a bit of yeasty bread, hints of tangerine. Medium to big sweet flavor, a lot of citrusy fruits orange, tangerine, mild alcohol kick. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Fairly warming and sweet to finish, lots of sugary citrus. A bit sticky sweet. Nice, if a touch heavy.

75 cl bottle @ home, 10 months after bottling. Amber to red color, hazy. Big, dense, off white head with long retention and good lacing. Aroma’s: sweet fruit, pine, some citrussy sourness. Retronasal it’s herbal, drop/laurel, sweet fruits, piney hops, toffee/caramel, fruitcake. Flavor is medium sweet with a hint of fruity sourness. Body is rather full, thick, syruppy, velvetty. Alcohol is well hidden. Finishes herbal, hop-aromatic, but hardly bitter. More a barley wine than a saison, but I quite like it.
