Bottle from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Aroma is nicely peated and smokey with chocolate, roast, whiskey, oak, and a hint of fruits. Fairly bitter flavour, sweetish, mild warming booze. Body is medium. Another very tasty BA from Berghoeve.

Pours jet black with virtually no head. Aroma's: peat, but subtle, roast, umami, alcohol. Retronasal there's peat, rye bread, roast, coffee, molasses, a little red fruit. Flavour is light moderate sweet, with roasty bitterness. Medium bodied. Fairly strong alcohol feel, warming. Long finish with roast and ash, above moderate bitter. Top notch.

33cl bottle. Poured pitch black with almost no head. Pretty smooth mouthfeel. Wood, barrel, whiskey and tobacco. Quite complex, charcoal and roastedness.

Version en Ledaig réussie, avec un whisky bien intégré et équilibré par rapport à la base tout en l'enrichissant et la tonifiant. Le visuel est sur un noir total, sans mousse. Joli nez ou le whisky tourbé vient très bien s'allier à la base sur le chocolat et le café. L'attaque est légèrement suave, avec un soupçon d'épices sur une dominante chocolat et whisky. En deuxième bouche, le whisky prend davantage d'ampleur, chaleureux et bien intégré. L’arrière-bouche, relativement douce, passe comme un voile alors que le final, sur un whisky dominant donne du tempérament à l'ensemble. Très appréciable.

Duidelijk turfgeurtje. Of Jurgen z’n pleister is in de brouwketel gevallen. Wel prima smaak ook, maar heb toch liever de gewone.

0.33 l bottle from 'Beerdome', best before December 2020. Pitch black with a few beige bubbles on top of it. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and fairly smoky-medicinal aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, hard roasted coffee and iodine. Gently sweet, malty, rather roasty-bitter and quite smoky medicinal-taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, iodine and peat, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter, gently earthy and rather smoky-medicinal finish. Almost full-bodied, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Almost as intense as the Ben Nevis version, fairly heavy but well-crafted. Good!

Bottle. Black. Malt, roast, a hint of peat and caramel in the aroma. Full bodied. Malty sweet flavor with dark chocolate. Peaty, oak. Complex and tarry. Very low on carbon. Excellent.

Ik was een beetje bang voor de ledaig, maar het basisbier kan veel hebben. Dat bleek ook al uit de laphraoig versie. Is er ook bourbon?

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is smoky, peaty, biscuit, chocolate, taste is similar, quite dry and smoky, little thin.
