Not bad for a 4.4% beer, not too sweet but with a really solid bitter aftertaste. Not my style & would not buy again.

500 ml bottle, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.4%. Black colour, large beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted malts, oatmeal, lactose, mild coffee and cocoa. Smooth flavour with the same elements as the aroma, not too sweet. Moderate bittering hops in the finish.

Bottle for Lidl Inverurie. It pours neaera black wig a handsome khaki head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, dark roasted malt creamy, milk chocolate, coffee grounds and some burnt toast. The taste is not dissimilar, roasted malt, bitter - sweet character, milk chocolate, coffee grounds, touch of mocha and a hint of acidity with a smooth, toasty finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Rather nice to be honest.

500ml bottle from a Morrisons online shop. Pours black with a moderate sized aerated tanned head. Aroma of dry burnt wood, hint of sweetness. Dry burnt light ash note balanced by a sweet malt, quite light. Underwhelming at first in its simplicity but it grew on me a lot, like a Guinness it has a lovely session quality where you keep wanting more.

Bottle. Black/dark brown with a big beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and cocoa. Taste of caramel, roasted malts, cocoa and milk chocolate ending a little bit tangy. Low to moderate bitterness. Low to medium carbonation. Very balanced with just about the right amount of sweetness for my taste. Great.
