Bottle at home in London. A part of the Sainsburys World Cup of Beer Super Challenge Blowout. Pours an almost clear, dark brown with a medium, foamy beige head. There are a LOT of hops in the aroma. Some pine and grapefruit. Bit of roasted malts and cocoa, too. Medium to full sweet flavor, plenty of resinous pine bitterness, some peat and tar, medium roast malts. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sticky, oily finish, some earthy and piney bitterness, bit of peat and scorched earth, dry roast, mocha. This is great stuff. Really straddling the line with a Black IPA I would say. Very, very good.

Bottle from the Sainsburys Beer Challenge range, Sainsburys Kidlington, 2011 purchased & consumed 07.09.11 Pours dark brown with a light beige rim of bubbles. Coffee & hops combine to superb effect in this cracking little stout. It’s roasty but the fresh hoppy bite really adds something to what would have been an otherwise decent but none too exciting stout. Some spent coffee grains, citrus leaching trhough from the hops, marvellous. Really impressed with both this and the McMullen beers, difficult to seperate the two. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0
