Cream-coloured rim over nearly black beer. Liquorice and Bourbon (?) nose, nuts. Sweet, slightly ashy, no bitterness whatsoever. Stout sourness is there a bit, and a flavour as from Oolong tea, and a bit of cola. Medium bodied, very slick-oily, warming. Strange - but good!

bottle from nordiske købmand. dark brown, smooth brown head. full, roasted malty, spicy aroma, notes of licorice and coffee, very flavorful aroma. Flavor is hard roasted malts, bitterness from malts as well as from hops, but without much hoppy flavor, this one is composed very well. stunning taste considering the relatively low alc. percentage.

Bottle 500ml (AIH40, Vinmonopolet)
Dark brown color, medium-sized brown head. Sweetish cocoa and coffee in the nose. Medium-bodied. Coffeish, slightly sweet and then toasted maltyness. Nicely balanced, no off-flavours, perhaps a bit too simple (maybe more hops?) but anyway good brew.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt with some strong dry coffee notes is very interesting. Taste is also dominated by dry roasted malt with huge coffee notes which are well balanced and avoid entering into astringency territory. Body is quite full for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Enjoyable beer with strong roasted/coffee notes.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap ($9): Pours black with a brownish head. Aroma is licorice, roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee, and a tad bit of burnt flavors. Taste is sweet at first, but then gets into a more bitter roasty side. Very nice and complex. Even though this is not too heavy of a beer, it strikes me as a sipper.
