25/7/2025. Can from a shop near Dovercourt station, courtesy of Colin, “enjoyed” from the can as a train beer home from Harwich Town Redoubt Beer Festival 2025. Very sweet, malty, syrupy. Boozy metallic. Felt borderline anti-social. If it wasn’t for being on a train I’d be on a park bench.

This £1.99 offering was picked up in a small convenience store in Weston Super Mare. Clear gold with brief fizz. Aroma of sugars, stale brown bread and straw. Taste starts ok with a basic sweet bready malt but then gets harsh and abrasive with an almost chemical like bitterness. Mouthfeel has a crisp carbonation, some slickness and a touch drying. Rubbish

Can shared on the return train during the Isle of Wight Jolly. Pours clear, shiny gold with a creamy white head. Sugary white bread on the nose with whispers of straw. Big sweet flavor, chock full of white sugar, white bread and hay, with delicate fusel alcohol notes. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sugary pale bread on the finish with more basic white sugar. A fine example from the European Strong Lager tradition.

IOW Jolly Day, can shared at South Sea station, 24/08/14 - think LKS spoiled us with this beaut! Clear pale golden with a moderate off white covering that stays for the show. Nose is grain, light citrus, paper, straw. Taste comprises bready notes, pale malt, grain, sweet licks. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close, sweetish finale. Pretty Meh!

Can during the IoW Jolly Day return train. It pours clear gold with a medium white head. The nose is sweet, dirty, icing sugar and grain. The taste is very, very sweet, icing sugar, candy, saccharin, alcohol and grain with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Sweet and sugary grainy action. Not for me.

Golden coloured, no head. It has a surprisingly light character given its strength.

500cl can picked up in Hastings. Straw coloured with a billowing white head when poured into a pint glass; a touch of tropical fruit on the nose, almost hiding the alcohol; the taste isn’t as bland as I expected - buttery, and with some fruity esters; then a boozy Madeira cake finish. Overall this is much better than I expected.

500ml can. Pours gold with a large head. Aroma was slightly metalic cooked vegetables. taste was veggies to start and a very sweet caramel finish.
