50cl bottle from Tesco. Not bottle-conditioned. Very lively pour although this doesn’t seem to be bottle conditioned; copper with a thick beige head that falls back quickly; heady aroma of raisin and alcohol; rich, thick and oily in the mouth, with vinous fruits and chocolate flavours leaving a dry, nutty and moreish finish. An excellent example of the ESB style.

Dark brown color. Caramel, cherries, apples and milk chocolate in the nose. Smooth balanced mouth, mildly sweet with the milk chocolate coming out quit a bit. Caramel, cherries and milk chocolate linger in the finish.

Dark copper colour beer with a fair amount of head. Malmty aroma. Biscuity, malty flavours, perhaps just a little salty. Tastes fairly strong, alcohol-wise. Quite a good beer, perhaps just a one-pinters, though. Definitely different from the norm.

(Bottle 50 cl) Reddish amber with a creamy head. No head, almost no carbonation and highly drinkable. Qiuite light-bodied - I actually thought the alcohol was lower than what it really is. Malty with a vague, burned note. Some spices and only a weak bitterness. Nice. 020401

Cask at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford Good body and structure. Maltiness gives it some beer with some strong hops towards the end. Good warming pint.

Cask conditioned at the Exeter Arms, Derby. Hazy brown colour, low creamy head. Moderate aroma, some English malt vinegar. Malty sweet flavour, full, rich and creamy mouthfeel. Not bad.

A hazy dark orange beer with a small off-white head. The aroma is light, but quite sweet with lots of caramel and nuts. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, hints of nuts, and a bitter end with hints of wood.
