Bright clear gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, a little soft but with decent fine carbonation emerging on the back end. Light malts, some creamy sweetness and a little bready character. Light pine. An uncomfortably odd elderflower and vaguely vanilla vibe going on here as well as mild citrusy hops. A light and semi dry finish. Typical! Having just bigged this brewery up on a re-rate of Grumpy Santa, I get this howler!

20/12/2021. Bottle from Notcutts Garden Centre, Woodbridge. Christmas countdown beer 5. Pours clear straw gold with a frothy white head. Aroma is citrus, orange, caramel, hay, malt, earthy notes. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness, slightly tart with harsh undertones. Moderate body, oily watery texture, average carbonation. Okay, a little rough.

50cl bottle pours a clear straw gold, white head. Nose has flowers, honey, some buttery biscuit, a little white grape. Flavor is the same, more honey and marmalade than grist. Finishes lightly tannic. Enjoyable enough. 7 4 6 3 11

Clear medium yellow, no head, tiny bubbles. Soft lemon bread aroma. Flavour is boring dry hops with a crisp malt finish. Average at best, not offensive though.

Christmas Eve 2014. 500ml bottle five months out of date: cheers Brother-in-law! Poured a decent looking golden amber with a thin wisp and collar of small white bubbles. Thought it might have turned because it just seemed old and earthy in the nose (the other rates however confirm my thoughts) with an ’off’ feel. The taste was also earthy yet with some mild sour citrus notes within a minor marmalade flavour with hints of sweetness. This is the fourth ’Christmassy beer’ from these guys and on the whole they have been a pleasant surprise, this one was also fine, if a bit past it’s best before date.
