Évaluation no. 13 en Juin 2010. Nez fort d’alcool. De couleur or, ambrée, floue, elle présente une mousse très onctueuse et très persistante avec de belles micro bulles. En bouche: Un bon mélange houblon / alcool avec des notes de malt et de caramel léger.

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur dorée foncée et voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (agrumes, léger de poires, traces de pêches et de pommes cidreuses) et légèrement épicées (poivre doux, notes de clou de girofle), léger de pain et de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches) aux notes florales. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et aux petites notes croustillantes ainsi qu’une texture aux notes crémeuses. Goût de levures fruitées (agrumes, notes de pêches et de bananes, faibles traces de pommes vertes) et légèrement épicées (léger de poivre très doux, notes de coriandre) lors de l’entrée en bouche auqueul se rajoute un moyen goût de pain, un léger goût de céréales et des petites traces de miel puis en finale l’on retrouve une moyenne-légère amertume asséchante de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches) et légèrement floral ainsi que des notes d’alcool. Post-goût moyen et plutôt sec, moyen-léger amer de houblon floral et herbeux ainsi qu’un goût de levures fruitées (zest d’agrumes) avec de faibles traces d’alcool.

Beautiful spicy nose with some belgian yeast notes. Big white frothy head with great retention and patchy-foamy lacing. Clear golden colour at first pour but when the rest comes in, turns cloudy with some beige and orange nuances. High alcohol is very well-hidden with a medium body. A nice touch of caramel mixed with citrus appears in the aromas. Mild taste of coriander, bread yeast, wheat malt and herbal hops. Quite well done and reminding me of the good Unibroue days.

Has a bright orange-yellow body with a modest amount of head. Hoppy Belgian-style aroma; in fact this is the first North American brew I’ve encountered that has actually gotten the aroma right! Taste is smooth, just like a Belgian ale; there I am again, in Brussels, eating Frites and Moules, with a fine Belgian on tap, on my way to the Delirium Café.... they’ve done it, this North American brewery has imitated the Belgian style almost perfectly and I’m happy about that. No re-invention or innovation, just a great brew that reeks of Belgium that’s widely available to people on the other side of the Atlantic... in Québec, at least.

Bottle: Poured an hazy light beige color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of bready yeast and nice malt backbone with light fruity ester is quite enjoyable. Taste is a well balanced mix between some bready yeast with a solid malt backbone with balanced sweetness and some fruity ester. Body is quite full with good bottle-conditioning and good carbonation. Actually well brewed and better then the beers were in their previous incarnation.
