Bottle from Co-op Union Street, Aberdeen. It pours clear mahogany brown with a handsome beige head. The aroma is varnished wood, bitter - sweet, earth, resin, malt loaf, brown bread and toasted nut. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, woody, nutty, leather, resin, tannin, brown bread, earth, dull yoffee, malt loaf and a touch of alcohol with a drying, woody finale. Medium body and average carbonation. Kinda reminds me of Innes & Gunn. Absolutely fine. Decent boost level.

Bottle. Color: Clear amber, beige head. Aroma: Oak wood. Fruity apple, grape, citrus, some caramel. Taste: Nice mix of oak wood, vanilla, slightly tart fruity Sherry hints and hints of citrus and green apple, caramel malt. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Long lasting finish. Some dry bitterness at the finish. Moderate sweet and light going to over moderate bitterness at the finish. Wow! Lovely example of excellent barrel ageing and blending.

Bottle. Deep amber with a good cm of off white head. Aroma is roasty with dried fruit, bread and spices. Some citrus. But there’s less presence upon a taste. Still, it’s not that sweet with a moderately bitter and fairly oaky end. I like Olde Suffolk more but this is pretty good too.

Bottle from Ocado. Amber pour with a white head. Malty toffee & dried fruit aromas. Taste is flat cola, toffee, more dried fruit. Malty sweet finish. Standard stuff.

Bottle from Co-op, New Haw. Aroma has malts, caramel, berries and basement. Clear chestnut. Thick foamy white head. Caramel sweetness. Followed by berries and grainy bitterness. Booze. Latterly some sweet fruit flows in like a low tide. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Enjoyable. Warming.

Appearance is clear amber, with a half-finger fizzy white head. Aroma is biscuity malt, toffee, raisin, dried dark fruit, caramel. Taste is malty dark fruit, burnt fruitcake, caramel, biscuit, rich boozy fruit kick. Quite full-bodied.
