Bottled. Reddish amber colour, small white head. Aroma is wood, vanilla, some slight sweet malts as well as some floral and a bit metallic notes (not in a bad way here though9. Flavour is sweet malts, some wood, mild sugary notes as well as some raisins and quite nice floral and grassy bitterness towards the finish. Wellbalanced, and a quite nice GK brew.

Dobre piwo w elegandzkiej butelce. Vintage Ale ale nie podany jest rocznik. W zapachu morele suszone i daktyle. W smaku takze wyczuwa sie te suszki i do tego dochodzi drewno wilgotne i stechle. W zapachu wilgotny material jakby nasaczony rumem. Lekka nuta alkoholowa w koncowce.

Keg at Black Door. Deep clear copper color, small creamy off-white head. Nutty, toffee aroma. Perharps a bit buttery too. Medium-bodied. Sweetish nutty flavor. Light toffee and Earthy English hoppyness. Quite traditional English strong ale.

(Keg at Black Door, 20140411) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts and molasses. Palate was medium bodied and sticky with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, malts, caramel and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A way too sweet brew.

500ml bottle from supermarket. A very rich and dark brown beer. It’s a touch sweet, but with a good maltiness and a bitter finish.

From Sainsburys. Copper coloured with a slight, off-white head and moderate carbonation. Aroma of barley sugar, oak and a touch of marmalade. Flavour was a bit skunky to start, with some stale malts and sweet fruit, before being redeemed by some deep orange, berry fruits and a warming alcohol finish. A mixed bag, but pretty good overall.

Part of the Morland Variety 4-pack at the LCBO for Christmas 2013. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a frothy-bubbly, light-beige head with decent retention and lots of soapy lace. Aromas of toffee, mild raisin, nuts and some grassy hops which starts off sharper, but gets milder. Refreshing, but with some bitterness, but not too crazy. All balanced with the caramel, raisin and some light alcohol. Seems like the Old Speckled Hen, but smoother and with some fruitiness to it. No vanilla though. Still, nice and smooth.
