Slightly tart, funky and sourish with some cardboardy notes, yeastiness, cheese and hints of floral notes. Smooth but not super complex -

Sour and a bit tart, smooth, low acidity. Funky, woody, rustic, stone fruit and vanilla. Some signs of oxidation but still very tasty.

750mL bottle at DHVL, pours a clear dark copper with a tiny white head. Nose has notes of balsamic, subdued funk, and old leather. Flavour is subtly funky, with gentle balsamic, old leather and earthiness. Tastes very old, as the oxidation has infiltrated this a fair bit. It's still decent but far from what it probably was.

750mL bottle, No. 15501, drunk 8/26/22. Darker than usual. Copper-bronze. Cork forcefully blows off. massive, off-white head, strong retention. Smells slightly oxidized despite the large pop from the cork. Soft, sweet, vanilla and malt with easygoing lactic acidity. Juicy brett. Soft and succulent with vanilla and honey. Tons of malt. This shouldnt be oxidized, and it's not detrimentally so, yet its a bit too sweet with juicy, deep brett and moderate lactic acidity. Could stand to be more dry, and I do think that's the malt, not the oxidation. Cherry, light lactic acidity and soft honey lingering.

(Bottle, 2009 edition) Pale amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy off-white head. Fruity, sourish nose with citrus, grapefruit, sour grapes, barnyard, stable, sweaty socks and autumn leaves. Fruity, tart taste with citrus, gooseberries, grapefruit, unripe fruit, cellar, barnyard and a dry, tart and funky finish. More than medium body, dry. Solid and well made with a rich and complex tartness. Great beer.
