Bottle. Great stuff. Very rich and malty, slightly sweet, and also big on the hops. One of the richest and best balanced barley wines I have tried. Excellent. Slightly chocolaty as well.

It is a complete travesty that I have not rated this beer before. This was the first barleywine I ever tried years ago before I started rating beer. I have had the beer many time since then and must have been convinced that I had already rated it. This is still the barleywine I compare all others to. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy red-brown color with a huge creamy red-orange had that lingered. The aroma was sweet and had a strong fruity hop presence and undertones of candied ginger and caramel. The flavor was sweet and bitter with toasted caramel, fruity hops, light pine, nut, cocoa and rum. A touch harsh. The finish is long with fruit, pine and caramel lingering. Full bodied. Excellent - an American classic.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of red berries, dried fruit and caramel. Vinous and sweet. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dried fruit, blood orange, orange peel and a generous citrussy bitterness in the finish. Full body, sweet and warming. Very nice beer.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and deep amber with a small tan head. Aroma is mild fruity and slight alcohol from the barley wine. Smooth fruity and dark rich malty flavoured. Smooth mouthfeel. Bitter and nicely fruity flavoured. A bit young yet also lovely fresh flavoured. Bitter and fruity hoppy finish.

Not a good looking beer, hazy reddish amber, fast fading beige head leaves a flat lifeless liquid. Nose of toffee and alcohol.Sweet profile, toffee, brown sugar, medium alcohol heat. Lasting but not strong hop finish Either a poor offering or I got a bad bottle Poorest effort I have had from Victoey
